| Fluid Power Energy provides self-contained
valves that require no external operating controls,
wires or sensing tubes. They come in pipe sizes
from ¾" to 6" and are available
in NPT and Flanged connections.
Thermostatic Valves are offered in 2-Way and
3-Way configurations. The valve is opened by a
temperature-activated thermostat which slowly
reacts to temperature changes in the fluid flowing
into the valve. Because of the gradual operation,
the thermostat's operating temperature range must
include the desired actuation temperature point.
The thermostat is easily replaceable, if a different
operating temperature is desired.
3-Way Valves are
applied for either "mixing" or "diverting."
In mixing applications, the normal fluid stream
receives an additional flow of cooled fluid which
mixes at the valve to maintain the desired fluid
outlet temperature.
In diverting applications, some of the hot fluid
is diverted from the valve to a remote cooling
source, such as a radiator or heat exchanger.
2-Way Valves only
allow flow to occur when the fluid temperature
increases to the operating point.
A common application is in the cooling loop of
a heat exchanger. The "hot" side of
the heat exchanger rises in temperature, heating
the cooling fluid in the opposite side. This temperature
rise causes the valve to open and cooling fluid
to flow. If the heat source on the hot side is
shutdown, the valve senses the cooling and shuts
down the flow of cooling fluid, thus conserving
water, etc. A weep hole is supplied in the thermostat
for these applications.
Standard materials are cast iron and aluminum.
Stainless steel and brass are optional.
